My duties at Elgin were those of a care assistant. Within 2 months I had already proven myself to the company and my hard work had been recognised as they then made me a night senior. My duties involved a great deal of quick thinking and being able to calmly make decisions in emergency situations as well as being able to ensure the residents under my care are safe and well looked after.

After working at VMR I wanted to discover more about the world of recruitment. I started voluntarily working at a small company in Southend where I worked without a wage. I wanted to discover more about the whole process within recruitment and was tasked with doing some 360 recruitment. The experience as a whole involved a lot of hard work 5 days a week and often working at home late into the night. I was taught a lot about recruitment and sales techniques previously unknown to me. I picked up a lot of skills as I was very dependent on myself and the work that I had performed. I dove straight in with very little knowledge about the job I would be doing. To understand the work in more detail I took it upon myself to perform research on the internet and read books about what I was doing and the best way to do it. I managed to get 5 Jobs on during this time and even managed to get 2 candidates to final stage interviews.

Essex

I was working in the community as a palliative carer. I worked with people with dementia as well as providing care to those who may not be as independent anymore, including younger people with disabilities. I thoroughly enjoyed the job and my duties ranged from; providing first aid at work, administering medications to simply keeping some people company and keeping them smiling. I found the work enjoyable. I have been trained in a variety of care courses from dementia training and manual handling to first aid and administering medication safely. The role helped me develop my communication and people skills immensely. I had worked at Brooks for over a year and have never received a single complaint.

I was working at VMR during the week and still doing my care work for Brooks over the weekends. My Job at VMR consultants was resourcing for high priority jobs. My job involved firstly finding out about the job from the client before then looking for potential candidates and putting them on a shortlist. I would then proceed to contact these candidates and speak to them about their personal experiences as well building a professional idea of whether or not they would be perfect for the role. I would then put those who are right for the role forwards for an interview following all preparation procedures and making sure the candidates are being compliant and genuinely interested.

I worked here for over a year and successfully climbed to the position of Supervisor. The position was gained rather quickly and I soon super-ceded peoples' expectations by exceeding targets and running the shop efficiently. I developed and furthered skills such as team management. I also performed some of the banking tasks in the back office which shows I am confident handling money and accounts. The Co-op also provided me with an opportunity to really develop my customer service skills.

Basildon

I worked in the Regional distribution centre in Basildon for the major retailer Argos. My job was to pick orders as stated in an efficient and safe manner. The job helped me develop skills like meeting targets and time management. The work itself was physically demanding and yet I was one of the highest rated pickers in the warehouse. I managed to keep a pick rate of above 90% which was the 7th highest in the warehouse. It also shows I am very efficient in my time management whilst at work.

Essex

Construction Industry on temporary contract with a small construction firm. I mainly performed labouring tasks; helping maintain the site, clean up and help maintain a safe atmosphere. I picked up small tasks like rendering, filling and small decorating tasks. I had managed to receive compliments on almost every job.
