I am a Staff Research Engineer and head of the ML team at Normal Computing.My tasks include:- Working with the executive team to shape the machine learning direction of the company- Working with the business development team to scope cross-functional POCs and longer-term partnerships with external stakeholders (including Fortune 100 companies)- Building cutting-edge probabilistic ML solutions to complex reasoning tasks across multiple domains- Developing and delivering high-quality benchmarks and evaluation suites- Managing the Machine Learning Team and providing ML leadership on cross-functional initiatives

I worked in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics in the Faculty of Business at Monash university. One of my major jobs is running an internship program that places 30-40 of our Masters of Business Analytics students.Service:- Developing faculty-level guidelines for promotion (and associated minimum standards) around academic impact activities (The second faculty in Australia to include this in our promotion criteria). My role has been to work on the standards in general, but to especially focus on open source software and large group collaboration activities.- Mentoring faculty through the new impact promotions criteria.- Driving and supporting industrial and governmental engagement within the department.- Mentoring junior faculty.Teaching:- Running the Masters of Business Analytics internship program.- Teaching a large second year statistics courseResearch:Conduct novel, world-leading research, create innovative and effective large courses in statistics and analytic, supervise honours (masters in UK/US) and PhD students.

Canadian Research Chair in Bayesian Spatial Modelling (2018-2022)Associate Chair (Research) 2019-2020Assistant Professor (2017-July 2020)Responsibilities included:Research:- Developed novel statistical tools, methods, theory, and software that were published in top statistics and machine learning journals and conferences- Supervised PhD studentsTeaching:- Lead the redevelopment of the taught portion of PhD program. This involved completely redesigning the comprehensive/qualifying exam structure to better reflect the diversity of our department’s research portfolio and shepherding those changes through the department and faculty graduate committees.- Developed and taught three new undergraduate units on Machine Learning, Bayesian Statistics, and Spatial Statistics. Redeveloped the compulsory advanced mathematical statistics PhD course.Service:- Associate Chair (Research) 2019-2020- Chair of four search committees and a member of six other search committees for assistant and associate professors.- Mentoring junior faculty.- Collate and distribute information about grants- Contributed to the strategic planning of the department

I was one of the founding members of the governance board for the open source software project Stan, which is a popular probabilistic programming language for Bayesian inference. I was also a member of Stan's NUMFocus leadership body from 2017 until it was joined to the newly-created board in 2018.

Reader is a very British rank and is roughly equivalent to Associate Professor in Australia (and other 4 level systems) and is closer to Full Professor in the North American system.I worked in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. I was a Lecturer (Assistant Professor in North America) until May 2016, after which I was promoted to Reader. As well as research, my role sincluded:- Placement Tutor (2016--2017). Responsible for the year long industrial placement students (109 in 2016/17) in our degree programs.- Equality and Diversity officer (2016--2017)- Member of the Athena SWAN Department Self Assessment Team. This committee put together successful bid for a Bronze Athena SWAN award. (2015--2016)- Developed and taught courses in multivariate data analysis, operations research, and scalable spatial modelling.
