Task leader for the Renewable Fuels and Lubricants (ReFUEL) laboratory, a 2010 capable emissions and performance measurement engine and heavy-duty vehicle testing facility. - Light-duty gasoline and medium-duty diesel engine dynamometers, 8,000 – 80,000 lb heavy-duty vehicle chassis dynamometer, portable emissions measurementManaged daily operations for laboratory operations with up to four engineers and two technicians with various professional and student interns. Worked with internal and external customers to plan, schedule and budget testing activities.- Annual budget of over $1.2 M and additional equipment purchases and installations exceeding $1.5M.

Supervised seven engineers and managed many projects within the Advanced Products group, including projects for the Army, Navy and commercial applications primarily focused around hybrid vehicle designs.Project lead for Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD) project involving application of Oshkosh’s Propulse series hybrid technology to next generation vehicle designs.- Coordinated M&S activities for powertrain and suspension systems, including ADAMS, Matlab/Simulink, NRMM, CFD and FEA. Investigated thermoelectric and water generation systems. Advance Heavy Hybrid Propulsion System, NREL project, Life Cycle Cost analysis and lead for chassis dynamometer drive cycle development, testing and data analysis.

Project leader for three Hydraulic Valve Actuation (HVA) camless system projects- Government-funded project to design, build and test an HVA system for an automotive diesel engine. Installation on engine at dynamometer test facility to demonstrate system functionality. - Redesigned above system to meet European customer requirements, manufactured, built, bench tested and delivered to customer for combustion development work.- Continued development of Navistar HVA system, including vehicle installation and on engine testing. Testing to determine benefits of camless for medium-duty diesel engine and system durability.Development engineer for HVA camless engine systems on gasoline and diesel automotive applications. Bench testing involved design verification, durability, control algorithm development and hydraulic dynamics evaluation. Installations at customer locations for continued bench testing, on engine for dynamometer testing and in vehicle for drivability testing.

- Team leader of performance development test lab with responsibilities including test coordination for a team of four, equipment procurement, and status reporting to product team.- Performance testing of diesel injection systems, including new design evaluation, production and quality-issue resolution, and customer problem-solving. Projects ranged from initial development through production.- Advanced development for specific customer issues, including pilot injection and injection rate shaping.- Injection control valve development, including improved stability and durability

Advanced Midrange Fuel Systems Development, 12/93 – 4/96- Team Leader / Development Engineer. Component testing to evaluate performance and reliability. Led team meetings, developed schedules, weekly updates, and hardware changes.- Test Engineer in charge of coordinating work in laboratory. Performed tests on fuel system as requested by teams and troubleshooted system problems in lab and other testing locations. Midrange Advanced Product Development, 2/92 - 12/93- Mechanical development for TLEV engine (EGR) and various new engine designs. Vehicle installation, component performance, durability and testing.
