CurrentWorking for the main contractor managing both sub-contractor works and direct plant and labour for all civils work associated with the construction of a new tram network through the city of Edinburgh. The construction comprises a 12.5km tram line, from Edinburgh Airport to St Andrews Square with an overall contract value of £770 million. Activities and Responsibilities:Managed and supervised a wide variety of works including major earthworks, rail track formation, structural and general concreting, reinforced earth walls, soil nailing, piling, road construction, drainage (including large attenuation tanks), ducting and finishing works.• Inspecting all section works to ensure they are constructed in accordance with the contract drawings, schedule and specifications and executed according to the project programme.• Track completion and create weekly progress reports, identifying differences to critical path.• Manage site dimensional control ensuring contractors have facilities for setting out. Setting out works and surveying completed works, undertaking as built to design analysis using survey manipulation and analysis software and CAD.• Produce and review construction method statements, risk assessments and work permits ensuring that the works are constructed efficiently and safely.• Create and manage sectional document control system.• Assist in management of costs and budgets, and with measuring of the works for valuations.• Identify design and construction issues both prior to and during construction, surveying and analysing the problem, then producing a detailed report identifying a practical economic solution for approval by the designer.• Snagging works, preparing snagging documentsand ensuring completion by sub-contractor.• Ensuring that all work is undertaken safely and in accordance with health, safety and environmental legislation and the site HSE plans. Undertaking weekly HSE inspections.
