A thirty-year veteran in the industry, he manages the syndication programming unit and assists in the overall management of the events business.Shoemaker is one of only a handful of ERT employees who worked with the company when it was known as Creative Sports, which ESPN acquired in May 1994. Shoemaker has played an integral role as this division has grown into the top syndication rights-holder and producer of national, regional and local shows for college conferences including the BIG EAST, Big 12, Mid-American and WAC, as well as the SEC, as part of the conference’s historic 15-year rights agreement with ESPN.Shoemaker has been instrumental in the creation and acquisition of more than 20 events owned and operated by the company, including seven postseason college football bowl games, seven multiple-team men’s college basketball events, a college lacrosse tournament, an international soccer event and ESPN National Golf Challenge. ERT is also a 50 percent partner in the Champions Skins golf event.Throughout his career, Shoemaker has directed and produced over 1,000 collegiate games. The 1972 Marshall University graduate earned a degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in administration. A former chemistry and physics teacher, he also coached high school baseball and football.The Huntington, W.V., native has also done more than 500 college games as an analyst, including games for USA Network. Shoemaker also produced and/or directed numerous events — including over one hundred professional boxing shows in Europe, Africa, Australia, South America and Asia and over 250 boxing matches in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
