Lead Web Designer And Developer
CurrentAfter completing a 3-week internship with Edie. One - which required me to perform market analysis for the business' ideal clients - I was asked to stay on as the lead web designer and developer where I work on creating websites for clients that align with their brand. A focus is put on excellent user experience in all of the websites and apps created. I use React and CSS, Next.js, and Prismic.io, with Figma to design and prototype the experiences. I always work in an agile SCRUM methodology, using 1-2 week sprints to deliver stages of a project.
User Experience Developer
I worked with Moored Solutions to design and create a marina payment system, which included an Airbnb-like booking system for boat owners, and an analytics-based dashboard for marina owners.
Compiler Intern
I worked on the Wolfram Language compiler with the head of kernel development at Wolfram using LLVM to add functionality to many different areas of the compiled Wolfram LanguageI implemented an interface for Intel’s MKL Vector Math library for compiled Wolfram language, to allow for optimised linear algebra to be computed on the CPU. Additionally, I worked on some improvements to the MXNet (Deep Learning framework) interface, adapting the low-level C++ code to work with pointers instead of inline functions, to allow more complex, abstracted, functions to be passed around the network (and it of course also improves performance as a result of higher space efficiency).Along with another intern, I created an optimised sparse polynomial data structure representation. After reading multiple research papers on efficient operations, we also implemented support for addition/subtraction, multiplication, evaluation, factorisation, and differentiation. We designed and developed these together, which required strong communication and collaboration to ensure that our algorithms worked with the underlying representations of the data structure and would often assist each other with complexities of the algorithms and bug fixing. Finally, I also built a benchmarking system that allows the C++ standard library data structures to be compared against compiled Wolfram Language. The interface I built allows this to be done in 1 line of code, and it is planned to be used in upcoming Wolfram talks.
Frontend Web Developer
When I was 16, I secured this internship to work on the frontend of an online resource hub being created at the IB. I worked with a team of designers and developers to create an intuitive interface that students and teachers could use to find relevant learning and teaching resources. I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to develop the navigation and card layouts of the resource centre. Communication was vital for discussing implementation nuances after receiving designs from the UX lead, and I would make sure to seek and act upon feedback from the rest of the team. This allowed me to rework the website sections to match requirements effectively.
User Experience Consultant
After programming a game I released on the Google Play store for my Personal Project in Year 11 of highschool, I was asked to provide some feedback on the Hive Learning student platform. After extensively testing the content, system, and interactions within the site, I sent back a detailed report on how the system could be further improved and developed on, which required me to communicate my ideas and suggestions concisely and with clear indication of what the issues were and how they could be improved. I was told by the engineering team that my suggestions were useful in allowing them to more effectively communicate the intentions of their interface to their users.
