As Wildfire Prevention and Conservation Coordinator for the New Mexico State Forestry Division, duties included engaging the media and public with information about State Forestry's many fire prevention and natural resource programs and information about wildfires on state and private land that is non-municipal, non-federal and non-tribal. I also served as the state's primary fire information officer. Managed social media for six different Division programs and wrote speeches for my administrators as well as two New Mexico Governors. I coordinated Division educational programs such as Project Learning Tree and Smokey Bear and provided training opportunities for the Firewise Program and our home and structure wildfire assessment service.

Wrote articles and staff profile pieces for a weekly campus publication and an UNM Alumni Magazine. Answered day to day media inquiries and worked with orher department public affairs specialists to ensure good media coverage for events and other news. The position was temporary in nature.

I worked as part of the Public and Government Affairs team at AAA New Mexico, providing news and information regarding traffic safety laws and education, supporting AAA's tourism office and writing legislation. I presented educational programs to students, adults and law enforcement officers about various aspects of traffic and pedstrian safety as well as new laws passed by the NM Legislature.I represented AAA New Mexico on several committees with the ABQ Chamber of Commerce and organizations that promote New Mexico's rural tourism and economic development. I also assisted our travel agency market and promote AAA travel products and services. I also served as primary media contact and provided daily traffic reports to local television and radio stations.

I worked on the assignment desk at ABC affiliate, KOAT Channel 7 in Albuquerque, NM. There I worked with news room staff on developing news stories and covering breaking news. On occassion I would be asked to cover stories, shoot video and conduct interviews.

I served as the news director for NPR/PRI affiliate KENW/KMTH in Portales, New Mexico at Eastern New Mexico University. While there, I taught audio production classes at Eastern New Mexico University and served as the adjunct faculty advisor for the student-run radio station, KZIA.

Researched, wrote, recorded and broadcast several daily newscasts, hosted special live news events, performed as on-air talent and represented KTQM/KWKA on several local boards.
