Art Director
CurrentAs director of the art department, my responsibilities are to manage graphic design and production for this top-50 exhibit house, as noted by Exhibitor Magazine. This central role involves collaborating with a variety of disciplines to ensure our clients’ message is properly communicated from both a creative and technical standpoint. Not only does this involve creative direction and in-house production, but also partnering with outside vendors across the country to ensure the final product is developed to desired specifications. This is a demanding, fast-paced role that requires advanced multitasking skills. At its core, it requires the ability to effectively communicate across many levels in the project process while strengthening existing client relationships.As Downing Displays shifted their service focus to being a custom exhibit house, I spearheaded a rebrand of the organization, creating a new visual language and conceptual direction. The most significant result of this process was a redesign and rollout of a new website, which helped reposition Downing’s perception in the marketplace.In addition, strategic changes to internal processes are making the Art Department more efficient. Since assuming the role of Art Director, our department has seen a dramatic improvement in our cost-to-goods ratios. Secondly, a modified approach to the design process has increased requests for creative design.
