Led a team to design and build a modern application platform for our websites, using Angular with an Asp.Net Core backend. Responsible for planning sprints, guiding teammates new to client-side development, and developing best practices. Primary implementation responsibilities included client and server backend, authentication and authorization, and routing.Collaborated with product teams to take broad functional requirements and generate technical specifications and designs. Projects included SSO and unified user management (across six different acquired products), a cross-system patient eligibility viewer, and custom prior authorization transactions with Medicare Administrative Contractors.Planned and led a team to replace our VB6 Medicare claim miner with a modern .Net Core microservice-based version using Docker and Kubernetes for scalability. Studied existing application architecture and consulted with subject matter experts.

Led custom development project to create an archive of clinical data across Via Christi’s disparate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Designed the high-level architecture and guided other developers in building and adapting the system to changing requirements, which included acting as the downtime solution for our primary EMR. Recommended technologies and frameworks to speed application development.Designed and implemented a native iOS application allowing clinicians to view patient chart data on their mobile devices. Primarily responsible for overall service architecture, authentication, and security. This application earned Via Christi a place in InformationWeek’s List of Top Technology Innovators.Collaboratively gathered requirements, designed, and implemented bed cleaning and order dispatch system for use by hospital housekeeping staff and select other groups. Created a custom Android application to serve as a workforce dispatch and task status system.Developed an HL7 and XDS.b interface that brokered document submissions to the state Health Information Exchange for seven of Via Christi’s geographically diverse hospitals, saving money in vendor fees and increasing efficiency compared to purchasing interfaces for each site.Selected to serve on committees to determine Via Christi’s long-range telecommunications strategy and set development best practices and standards within the IT Department.

Developed web applications for the Controller Firmware department, including report generation, data collection, and administrative functions. Prototyped and introduced use of new libraries and methods of development. Responsible for maintenance of several key site areas.

Researched and tested techniques for reconstructing height data from Mars orbital satellite images and the group’s own RC plane. Initiated several improvements to work process, including an automatic processing pipeline, source control for simulation code, and a batch processing GUI. Guided by advisors, collaborated with a fellow student to research and produce a conference paper.

Developed and enhanced testing capabilities for the Controller Firmware department. Retained to work remotely during the school year to maintain and extend work completed during the summer.

Worked as part of the simulation group for a $50 million neutrino detector proposal. Verified simulation results with hand calculations. Presented findings at weekly meetings. Helped maintain and enhance computer usability for coworkers.
