Hello! I have been involved in several research labs throughout my career. At the beginning of college, I worked in a biotechnology lab under Dr. Nadja Anderson where I prepared solutions, ran experiments, and optimized protocols. Our main goal was to construct biology experiments that could be utilized in a classroom setting. We worked closely with several local middle schools and high schools.I was accepted into the Undergraduate Biology Research Program and joined Dr. Bernard Futscher's lab. This lab studies epigenetics, an emerging field that involves changes to our phenotype without changing the underlying genotype. This field is becoming increasingly prevalent in many diseases as well as basic cellular function. My thesis project focused on a specific long non-coding RNA that plays a role in the development of several cancers.I recently graduated with my Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology and have accepted a position in Dr. Taben Hale's lab at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. In this lab, we focus on understanding the mechanisms of pathological remodeling of the heart and how that affects organ function.
