My name is Dana Floyd, President and Founder of Foster2Adoption, Inc. I am married to my high school sweetheart James and we have 3 beautiful children together. I was born and raised in Florida. I work full-time for a finance company, run my own business, and work diligently to service foster/kinship families in our county.Our oldest two children are adopted. We started in the foster system in 2011. We got our son in September of 2011 and then our daughter in November 2011. When we found out about our son, we had 2 weeks to prepare for his placement. He was in a current foster home but would be coming to our home with nothing except a grocery bag full of his “stuff”. Now, for our daughter we had less than 24 hours notice that we would be getting her. A newborn baby, directly out of the hospital. You see, we had been told through our adoption process that we would only get children that are over or around the age of 8. Our home was set up for children that age. We found ourselves scrambling to get cribs, bottles, diapers, and all the other things babies and toddlers required. We didn’t have 9 months to prepare for a newborn, we had 2 weeks and less than 24 hours to get everything needed for both of our children. It was chaos. It was worry. We had to make adjustments in our home to accommodate bringing a newborn baby into it who would be going through drug withdrawals so we could focus on loving her through it. Thankfully God put amazing people in our life and an amazing church family too. Every time we would come home our porch was filled with stuff for our children that we needed.I formed this agency out of a need that I wish was around when I was in the foster care system. No family taking in another child should have to worry about where they will be getting bottles, diapers, wipes, cribs, mattresses, etc. when they are bringing in a child. I wanted to form this agency to take the burden off of the parents by providing them anything they need to prepare for any child, no matter what age, to come into their home. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, foster parents, anyone taking in a child that they didn’t give birth to.I look forward to meeting and helping out families in the 5th judicial circuit. Our children deserve to be loved and families deserve to have someone support them in anyway they can and we hope to be that light for whoever needs it.
