The Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC) welcomes cyber intelligence leader Dana Madsen as the CTIIC Deputy Director. Dana comes to the role from his service as CTIIC’s National Intelligence Manager for Cyber where under his leadership CTIIC published the 2023 Unified Intelligence Strategy for Cyber, oversaw significant investments in cyber capabilities across the Intelligence Community (IC), and supported key initiatives in the National Cybersecurity Strategy, and supported the Director of National Intelligence in her role as the principal advisor to the President on intelligence matters.Dana brings extensive experience in leading and managing cyber and counterintelligence programs of increasing complexity. He has implemented new missions, driven change, and worked across IC and agency business lines. He has a deep understanding of cyber-related geopolitical, technical, and policy issues, informed by over 25 years of US government and military cyber experience gained in a spectrum of contexts.Prior to joining ODNI, Dana led a cyber threat program at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that integrated multi-disciplinary expertise to provide strategic warning and opportunity analysis of the global cyber threat landscape. From 2012-2014, he served as the deputy chief of a National Clandestine Service program, where he revitalized a program that had been lagging in relevance. As the deputy chief of a CIA cyber program from 2009-2012, he established a program from scratch during a period of high policy interest. In 2006, Dana was accepted into CIA’s Senior Analytic Service, which is CIA’s expert analytic track.Dana joined the IC in 2000 as a cyber threat analyst, following five years of service in the US Air Force. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in from Cornell University, a Master of Science from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, each in electrical engineering. He lives in Arlington with his wife and two dogs.
