Dan is an experienced Manager in the energy industry, with a background in both the traditional and renewable sectors. In his current role as Manager, Regulatory Rates at Trans Mountain he manages the team responsible for overseeing the Tolls & Tariffs program for both the existing and expansion project pipelines, as well as various storage assets. Prior to that, Dan's roles included Manager of Canadian Crude Assets, Manager of Tariffs and Commercial Regulatory, and Manager of Joint Ventures at Plains Midstream Canada. Through these roles, Dan has gained significant experience in Crude, NGL, and Refined Projects assets, working with national and provincial regulators, managing large long-term commercial and regulatory projects, and has been a member of the integration team for large acquisitions.His past work includes working as a researcher and case writer for the Richard Ivey School of Business (Ivey) at the University of Western Ontario. During this time he co-authored a paper on the effects of unstable policy environments on investments in the Canadian energy sector, and authored an energy focused case study that is currently being taught at Ivey. In addition, Dan is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Alberta Alpine Ski Association, as well as volunteering with Movember Canada as the former Co-Chair of the Oil Rig Rumble network and a member of the Calgary Movember Committee. Dan was previously a member of the British Ski Team, and was selected for Olympic Gold Status from the British Olympic Association (retired due to injury).Dan is an Energy Risk Professional—Certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and is passionate about continuing to explore and learn about the energy industry both in Canada and internationally.
