Dan’s passion is to help organizations in the social sector tell their stories and build their audiences. Dan has worked with foundations, philanthropy associations, government grantmakers, and nonprofits for nearly two decades.As a consultant, Dan helps clients through strategic communications planning and execution, website redesign, messaging campaigns, brand strategy, and digital marketing. His clients include The Tow Foundation, United Philanthropy Forum, Catalyst San Diego, Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, Navona Strategies, and others.Dan has spoken on panels or chaired discussions at Communications Network, Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers, Grantmakers in Aging, and Association of Writers & Writing Programs. He’s a regular guest speaker at colleges and universities.Previously, Dan has served as the communications lead for United Philanthropy Forum, was honored with a Distinguished Service Award for his work at the National Endowment for the Arts, and edited American Poets, the journal of the Academy of American Poets.Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in English from The College of New Jersey and a master’s degree in Arts Management from George Mason University. He is the author of three poetry collections and lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and two children.
