Barnet And Chase Farm Hospitals

I manage all patients with suspected cancer referrals for the specialities of Respiratory and Gastroenterology sent to Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. I am responsible for ensuring patients are seen, diagnosed, and treated promptly giving them the best level of care according to National guidelines. I cover four tumour sites in total and work closely with tertiary specialist centres in coordinating treatments.

During the last few months of my employment with QMUL, I was promoted to assist staff with the overall running of the France House (or residences) Reception dealing with all student enquiries, overseeing the running of the Estates and Facilities Helpdesk (and deputising in the managers absence), overseeing the running of the University wide Switchboard (and deputising in the managers absence), assisting the security control room in routine duties and led on the management of the Summer trade Reception service provided.

School Of Biological And Chemical Sciences (Qmul)

Assisting in a team with auditing, identifying, and cataloguing numerous specimens within the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBCS) led by Dr David Hone and colleagues. Role includes being able to classify and identify preserved animal and plant specimens in varying conditions and accurately cataloguing specimens within the collection, with the intention of using specimens in research, teaching, with some being placed on display within the school.

The Estates and Facilities Helpdesk and switchboard Operator works closely with their section manager, all Assistant Directors of Estates and Facilities, Campus Maintenance Managers, and Service Managers. They are often the first point of contact for issues or queries arising and should be able to resolve these independently or recommend alternative sources of assistance if necessary. They will be expected to take the initiative in recognising problems or areas for improvement and proposing possible solutions or escalating matters to the responsible person. This role will predominantly be servicing the Helpdesk and the QMUL Switchboard within the Estates and Facilities (EAF) Directorate during the agreed operational times of the service. The Helpdesk takes requests for the upkeep and maintenance of College buildings across all campuses. The role will involve taking requests, logging jobs via our online system and updating clients on progress.

Intra and inter-departmental liaison, use of GVAs logging maintenance and cleaning complaints, use of Kinetics (Kx) for student details, charging accounts, producing invoices, processing invoices, management of keys for over 20 buildings with over 2,000 rooms, general maintenance of properties (from locks to decorative works), conducting and processing detailed inventory forms, conducting legislative compliance/prevention works (PPM), assisting in maintaining electricity, mechanical (gas and water supply) to buildings, assisting with issues raised regarding drainage, lighting, heating, ventilation, lifts, fire alarm monitoring, access control, pest control and CCTV, extensive manual and computational administrative duties.
