I provide songwriters, estates, artist representatives, and media-related firms with strategies and insights into music publishing, copyright administration, licensing, catalog valuation, copyright termination of transfer, derivative works, international subpublishing, and unlocking value in niche genres. As Co-Founder of Modern Works Music Publishing, I've managed a diverse roster of songwriters, producers, and composers, including the estates of Erroll Garner & Johnny Mandel, Bootsy Collins (James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic), Andy Summers (The Police), Michael Beinhorn (Korn, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson), Eric Bazilian (The Hooters, Joan Osborne, Ricky Martin), Tom Craskey (John Legend, Deborah Cox, Estelle, Britney Spears), leading concert composers such as Gabriella Smith and Ellen Reid, and jazz luminaries such as Brad Mehldau, Joe Lovano, David Sanchez, Mary Lou Williams, Sammy Nestico, Joey DeFrancesco, and Eddie Daniels. In addition to encouraging our writers' creative development, I have remotely managed copyright & royalty departments for two decades, served as the primary liaison with subpublishers for international copyright administration, and directly negotiated and drafted copyright licenses.I've composed original works for American Composers Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, arranged and/or produced recordings for Lisa Loeb, John Legend, Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Larry Goldings and Calexico, and served as an orchestrator for film composer Theodore Shapiro. I became the first composer-in-residence of Young Concert Artists in 1994, and have held the same post at the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra from 1994 until 1999 and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra since 2002.
