Dane is active in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications and industrial design registrations. His practice focuses on mechanical, industrial and structural technologies and has significant experience with innovations in the oil and gas, aerospace, transportation and consumer goods sectors.Dane has experience working with clients of diverse sizes. He has assisted multinational corporations with expanding their patent portfolios and has assisted single inventor startups with filing their first patent applications. Dane has a flexible skillset and is quick to understand new technologies and commercial environments, ideally suiting him to securing valuable intellectual property for his clients.Dane holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University. While attending the University of Toronto, Dane was a resident Junior Fellow at the prestigious Massey College and was actively involved in the University of Toronto’s free legal clinic, Downtown Legal Services. While attending Queen’s University, Dane represented the student body at international conferences on improving engineering education and helped design an amphibious all-terrain vehicle for international competitions.In his recreational time, Dane is a casual volleyball and softball player, paints miniatures and engages in both digital and board gaming.
