I'm a firm believer that a for-profit company can make a profound impact by integrating a social mission into its core business. As the founder and owner of Elara Brands, I've dedicated my career to the fight against hunger in America while leveraging my extensive experience as a foodservice industry entrepreneur.At Elara Brands, we produce gloves that are essential for safe food handling and meal preparation in restaurants, ensuring guests can enjoy their dining experience. Ironically, 34 million people, including 9 million children, are facing the harsh reality of hunger, uncertain where their next meal will come from. That’s why I founded Elara with the clear purpose of addressing this issue head-on.Through our signature One Case • One Meal program, we’ve created an impactful way to combat hunger. For every case purchased, Elara donates a meal to a local food bank through our partnership with Feeding America, the largest hunger relief organization in the country. Thanks to the incredible support of our customers, Elara has already contributed over 6 million meals, and we're just getting started.Beyond my role at Elara, I proudly serve as the Board Chair at Island Harvest Food Bank, a Feeding America member food bank located in Long Island, New York. It's an honor to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share a common goal of eradicating hunger from our society. This organization holds a special place in my heart, as my family and I have been involved with it for many years. Before founding Elara, I served as the CEO and owner of a prominent food service disposables supplier and importer. Under my leadership, the company experienced remarkable growth, with sales skyrocketing from $4 million to $80 million. Partnering with private equity investors, we successfully navigated a buyout of retiring family members, ultimately leading to a successful exit five years later.My areas of expertise encompass a wide range of fields, including foodservice disposables and packaging, food safety, private equity transactions, strategic planning, finance, branding, marketing, and product development (with multiple patents to my name). I bring a global perspective to the table, having managed extensive sourcing operations in countries such as China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and others.Join me and the Elara community as we work tirelessly to end hunger, one meal at a time.
