I've been in the life insurance business, commissioned sales, since 1987..............started in Regina and navigated my way here to Vancouver Island in 1997. Then for some added fun, from 2011 until the end of 2020, the French Girl and I operated a vacation rental management business that we sold in November of 2020 and made enough to build our house down in the Baja. The plan now is to spend November to April/May in Mexico......and summer and fall here on the Island. We own still one vacation rental property that does pretty good and I continue to serve my insurance clients; although i can only sell new contracts if I am physically here in B.C. Even though technology (on-line) applications make it entirely possible to complete the application process electronically from anywhere in the World, the insurance companies still insist that I am physically in B.C (that's British Columbia and not Baja California) if I want to write new business. That's a bit of a bummer (not to mention archaic)....so I am looking for something on line I can do while in the Baja.....to pay for the groceries and the occasional margarita.Most of the time, I still enjoy the insurance business, especially working on disability cases and corporate arrangements. And I would love to carry on doing the insurance thing from the Baja if the companies would smarten up and give their gatekeepers a shake. But that is a battle bigger than I want to fight at this stage in my insurance career.
