Programmed an eclectic mix of concerts, film screenings, comedy events and public programs for a cornerstone of Downtown Raleigh’s live arts culture, presenting both local and widely-regarded artists, as well as managing venue administration, and coordinating efforts with marketing staff, production crew, ownership, community partners, independent promoters, and rental customers.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Designed and implemented the vision for the performing arts program at this startup, non-profit contemporary arts center, where, in addition to curating music, film, and other live arts events, I had an active hand in overseeing artist commissions, artist residencies, marketing strategy, website design, production management, and strategic partnerships.

East Lansing, Michigan

Helped to open a new contemporary art museum, designed by Zaha Hadid, at MSU, where I oversaw programming for the opening weekend, curated an ongoing performance and screening series, collaborated on educational programming for a variety of audiences, and co-designed enrichment activities for students, with various academic departments.

Boston, Massachusetts

As manager of this eleven piece, Ethiopian soul band from Boston, I was able to raise their profile from the local to the national, getting them signed to influential indie label Sub Pop, and booked on major festivals, including Bonnaroo, Luminato, Montreal Jazz Fest, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Bumbershoot, South By Southwest, and Chicago World Music Fest. Also coordinated coverage via outlets such as NPR, Rolling Stone, SPIN, New York Times, Pitchfork, Los Angeles Times, and Huffington Post.

Boston, Massachusetts

Launched and oversaw an ongoing concert series, across several venues, for the newly established office of the arts at Emerson College, which entailed booking, production management, copy writing and editing for publicity and marketing materials, and collaboration with various academic departments.

Cambridge, Massachusetts

Designed and activated a new programming division for a veteran non-profit performing arts presenter, intended to attract new, younger, and more diverse audiences, and executed at a variety of venues across the city, including museums, theaters, clubs, churches, and non-traditional spaces.

Re-conceptualized and overhauled the concert series for Boston's iconic, encyclopedic art museum, expanding the offerings from thirty to fifty concerts a year, broadening the range of genres presented, attracting new, younger, and more diverse audiences, revising policies and procedures, hiring and supervising production staff, creating and monitoring budgets, and overseeing marketing and outreach strategies.

Founded and directed a concert series dedicated to presenting the best in experimental music and sound art, from around the world, at a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional venues across the greater Boston area. This work entailed programming, producing, marketing, publicity, coordinating volunteers, hosting the concerts, writing grant proposals and reports, scouting venues, and building institutional partnerships.
