As a part of Woodwell's Permafrost Pathways project, I set up eddy covariance and micrometeorological instrumentation in underrepresented regions of the Arctic to better understand how permafrost contributes to and responds to global climate change.

As a research assistant at the Landscape Evolution Observatory (LEO) at Biosphere 2, I supported an interdisciplinary research team investigating the biogeochemical processes of landscape evolution. My responsibilities included maintaining an LGR isotope analyzer, collecting bi-hourly discharge water samples, repairing sampling devices and sensors, performing greenhouse experiments, and recording sample pH and electrical conductivity. Through this position I also frequently interacted with visitors of Biosphere 2, answering questions regarding the research occurring at our facility and its relevance to today's global challenges.

In this role, I facilitated lectures for up to 60 students reviewing college-level algebra and calculus courses. I performed this role in both in-person and online modalities as we adapted to the dynamic circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I supported students in college-level algebra, calculus, and organic chemistry courses. Our tutoring philosophy focuses on fostering a growth mindset in our students to develop independent problem solving skills. All tutors are certified by the College Reading & Learning Association and participate in continuous trainings on effective tutoring methods. Throughout the pandemic, we supported both online and in-person tutoring services for our students.

This internship focused on the development of curriculum to facilitate conversations in classrooms surrounding immigration and climate migration. We developed this curriculum to align with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal Number 16, "Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions". Our curriculum was also designed to facilitate English learning for primarily Spanish-speaking students.
