About Dan Keener
One of my early childhood memories is walking beside my dad during hunting trips. I seemed to often get stuck in the briar patches. They hurt and I didn’t like them. Years later in the military, I often found myself walking for hours through briar patches…at times even seeking them out as a good place to camp for the night. Briar patches are not fun to navigate, but they are a good metaphor for the reality in life that sometimes the things that once caused us pain and discomfort can develop into our strengths…if we embrace them. It is not easy to move forward through briars, but through teamwork and a willingness to hold back the branches for others, those on our left and right can move ahead and break free. I am motivated by opportunities to help others…to grip the briars of this life and help others break free and achieve their full potential.I have served in a variety of diverse assignments, including Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) as the Representative to the Department of State, within the Joint Interagency Task Force, within 1st Special Forces Command at 3rd and 5th Special Forces Groups, and service as a battalion commander and numerous other leadership roles as a Green Beret.A transformational leader of diverse organizations who focuses on collaboration, innovation, and removing the briars in organizations to help accelerate growth. My team knows me to repeatedly go out of my way to support, inspire, motivate, and embolden others. I inspire others by finding out what motivates them and by working to celebrate each person’s uniqueness. I support the people around me by acknowledging their outstanding accomplishments and stellar performances.I thrive in environments where I have to deal with unexpected requests, unanticipated problems, and changing priorities. In the end, I overcome and get things done. I am a former Special Forces Officer now working as a Program Manager directly supporting the U.S. Air Force's efforts to safeguard our platforms. The acronyms are different, but the requirements are the same - collaborate with and motivate people to accomplish the mission. If you have briars slowing you down, then let's connect! I possess a Top Secret SCI Security Clearance.
