As an independent investor I manage my own brokerage account and portfolio of stocks and shares, carrying out ledger accounting and financial ratio analysis while implementing various formulas with the aim of enhancing the portfolio’s overall health. I maintain balance sheets, cash flow and income status and other administrative documentation, working to implement established principles such as the rule of 72. All of this I have accomplished on an entirely self-taught basis, learning principally from books written by experts in the field such as Benjamin Graham’s The Intelligent Investor.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic I ran my own music tuition enterprise, teaching electric and acoustic guitar to students of varying ability levels from syllabuses and course materials all prepared by myself. I tailored lesson content and teaching approaches to provide effective and individualised learning experiences, pursuing a holistic approach aimed at inspiring and motivating students to master the instrument both under my tuition and on their own initiative. This involved regular and constructive discussion of strengths and potential areas for improvement.

Following a period of practical training I carried out plastering jobs for a network of private clients, building strong word-of-mouth reputation and growing the enterprise from scratch.

In this role I managed a fleet of more than 50 private hire vehicles, allocating drivers to customers requiring collection from locations across London and taking bookings for pick-ups at later times. I issued and controlled dispatches through systems including Mercury and iCabbi, also monitoring driver earnings and work activities through shift running lots and maintaining constant awareness of drivers’ locations to ensure customer requests were allocated with maximum efficiency and practicality. At times I was required to manage express pick-up services for customers connected to high-profile organisations such as the National Theatre and London Weekend Television.

I launched my own import and selling business after successful negotiations with an international manufacturer of phone cases, leading the design of new leather cases with various embossed motifs and liaising with suppliers to maximise material intake and attain the best possible business outcomes. Following the production of products I pitched our new ranges to shops while leading further sales through online and offline channels including Amazon Seller Central, over time generating repeat custom and becoming an established market presence.

I took over management of the store at the request of its owners, administering a variety of retail processes including stock control, inbound/outbound deliveries and waste reduction, also reorganising and displaying products to increase aesthetic appeal to consumers and collaborating with external partners to bolster operations and maintain the store’s position within the wider business community. My time at the helm saw me instigate a complete renovation of the store’s display units having arranged carpentry services at an advantageous rate, and close a new recycling deal which negated the need for council-led cardboard collections. These initiatives had the effect of generating major operational savings and boosting revenues along with customer satisfaction levels.
