As a Research Assistant for the Spring 2024 semester I had the honor of working with the Parsons Fashion Study Collection. Collaborating with Wendy Scheir, the Director of Special Collections at the New School, I worked on database management updating item inventory and location in the archive space. With a collection of over 4000 fashion objects I act as the collections representative; facilitating educational visits focused on fashion history, object based research, and garment research for fashion design. I connect with students and faculty from different departments across Parsons School of Design, ensuring an environment of relevant learning based on the parameters of the course. Currently with the help of Fiona Dieffenbacher and Katie Ibsen I am working on a series of projects and initiatives to ensure the future accessibility of the collection.

This position is under Associate Dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons, Fiona Dieffenbacher. In this position I have worked closely with Fiona to establish an interfaith-fashion lab at the New School, assisting in writing exhibition proposals and book proposals along the way. During this time I have also been able to shift my work towards the Parsons Fashion Study Collection, working closely with Fiona Dieffenbacher and volunteer Katie Ibsen, student with a strong background in fashion history. Together we have worked to maintain a working order of the collection and have begun to trial-run collection visits. We hope to work towards wider accessibility to the collection in the long-term future.

This position was a contracted position overlooked by Dr. Leila Kelleher and Gabby Brown for their upcoming book, Plus Size Pattern Making; I aided in rights clearance for images adhering to strict file formatting inputting data into a master Google sheets spreadsheet to reflect the status of the image copyright. I was also able to engage in some copyediting, mainly tracking image locations in chapter manuscripts while meticulously matching them with the master graphic spreadsheet to ensure proper formatting and compliance. I also worked on identifying terms for the glossary and index.
