About Daniel Atkinson, Ph.D.
I'm a science and health research specialist with a PhD in Critical Food Education and MSc in Muscle Stem Cell Biology. I've worked on research projects at McMaster University, the Ontario Institute of Secondary Education, York University and Health Canada. My interests are focused on science and health education, particularly working with groups of both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Over the last twenty years I've worked in a variety of research positions, as well as teaching math and reading for children 3-8. My current interests focus on cutting-edge interdisciplinary problems at the nexus between science, technology, health, and education. I am fascinated by complex issues that require creative solutions that require crossing disciplinary boundaries. My social science skill-set includes qualitative research and analysis techniques, curriculum development, teaching and evaluation.
