As an outgoing and curious person, I love meeting new people, especially those with innovative ideas and passion in their lives. As Charles M. Schwab once said "Personality is to a man what perfume is to a flower." My open and genuine personality allows me to engage with a variety of people in my field of Biological Engineering and forces me to learn more than I thought possible. I love understanding how living things, those not created by man, work and how they were designed. This fuels my interest in people as well, as I am always pushed to understand what drives someone and what their needs are. I wasn't always interested in Biological Engineering. In fact, my interests were so varied (sports, music, literature, craft etc.) that I thought I would never be able to choose from a seemingly endless list of possibilities. Then in 2014 a family member was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and the realm of biotechnology and medicine grasped my attention. I have worked as an engineering intern in a growing biotechnology company, MaxiFlex LLC where I learned how a biomedical technology company works and how medical devices are made and used. I have also interned at St. Charles Surgical Hospital where I learned the workings of a small surgical hospital. I am currently employed at LSU as a research assistant in alternative biofuels.
