After graduating from High School I began Studying Electrical Engineering at Minnesota State University Mankato. I eventually got a job while going to School at Harry Meyering Center, working with individuals who have developmental disabilities and live either independently or in a group home setting. I soon realized I enjoyed caring for people much more than I enjoyed designing electrical circuits and after 3.5 years of school for engineering I changed my major to nursing, which I studied at Rasmussen College in Mankato.I continued to work for Harry Meyering Center and in 2010 they nominated me to represent them against the whole state of Minnesota to compete for an ARRM Cares Award. This award represents the top 1% of Direct Service Providers in the state of Minnesota who show a strong commitment to giving quality services to the individuals they serve. Nominees display: professional integrity, consumer advocacy, innovative and proactive approaches to personalizing an individual’s services.I graduated in December of 2010 and passed my LPN test at the end of January.
