I am a Partner specialising in construction/engineering transactions and disputes. I act for a wide variety of clients including commercial developers, contractors and specialist subcontractors, house builders and housing associations, utility providers / water authorities, retailers, education institutions, local authorities and charities. I am also Sector Lead for the Construction Sector within Weightmans. In this role, I lead on growth of the work we do for construction contractors, consultants and sub-contractors, whether through targeted campaigns, initiatives and innovation, working with client partners to develop, improve and embed existing client relationships or leading and facilitating focused activities to convert contacts/targets into clients within the construction sector.In terms of my non-contentious work, I assist my clients by drafting and negotiating the full suite of construction and engineering documentation for their projects, including building/engineering contracts, letters of intent, bonds, parent company guarantees, professional appointments, sub-contracts and collateral warranties. I have experience with a variety of the standard forms within the industry including JCT, NEC3 and NEC4, FIDIC, PPC 2000 and RIBA standard forms, as well as various bespoke contracts. I am also experienced in drafting and negotiating facilities management outsourcing and design build operate and maintenance contracts. On the disputes side, I have assisted clients with numerous disputes in a variety of forums, including TCC litigation, adjudication, domestic and international arbitration, expert determination and mediation. The types of disputes I have handled are wide-ranging, including defective design, poor workmanship, interim application and final account disputes, delay and disruption and loss and expense claims and other breach of contract claims. I also assist clients with dispute avoidance/management as an active advisor within their project team, identifying and mitigating issues before they evolve into formal disputes.
