Built on an existing Modular Robotics simulation ('Snakebot', http://www.prokopenko.net/modular_robotics.html) to investigate self-damage sensing in a distributed control network. Snakebot used genetic algorithm machine learning to determine the best gait in flat and rough terrain. A method was found to build on this to determine if one or more of the segments was damaged, using entropy analysis of the adjacent modules, and then reject this module before continuing movement across the terrain.
