I am currently a Java developer working within one of Paychex's core agile teams developing their primary desktop payroll software that is used by their payroll specialists in order to compute and file our clients' payrolls, taxes, and other various financial activities. My responsibilities include development of new Java code to develop system features, maintenance of existing Java code, client support and creation of SQL scripts to fix errors with customer data, and testing all of the code that myself and the team creates.Before my current role, I was previously working within a bugfixing team to find and solve issues within Paychex's payroll software that come in via customer calls through our support employees. My efforts have been concentrated within the Java and Oracle SQL portions of the codebase, arching from the UI all the way down to the databases. This role is a precursor to eventually being placed on a new development team, as a way to learn our system and software.

I was responsible for the updating of a test suite running over a large Java Spring web application. My main focus was the conversion of manual tests into TestNG and Selenium based automated tests to be integrated into the overall test suite. These were predominantly validation tests involving manipulating the website with Selenium, and then querying the databases with SQL to run comparisons on the data and ensure their symmetry.

Worked as a member of the Support team for Westlaw Next, a legal research web application. My job consisted of taking on bugs reported to our team, researching the cause of the bugs, fixing them, and deploying the fixes into the system. During my time here, I worked on bugs found in the Java and C# backend of the system, as well as in the Javascipt frontend. Additionally, I attended daily triage meetings, weekly retro meetings, and participated in all other duties of a standard team member.
