I continue to work in the Friend of the Court Bureau, helping Friend of the Court directors administer their offices as they enforce child custody, parenting time, and support orders. One of the best parts of my job is the ability to help judges, referees, and court administration serve the people. I do this in a variety of ways - through trainings (both in-person and teleconference/video conference), answering immediate questions or concerns, or by conducting an on-site review of court procedures and writing a written report of recommendations for improvements.I also was instrumental in the implementation of the Language Access Program in Michigan's courts. I trained judges, administrators, and court staff in all of Michigan's 240+ trial courts on how to help their court staff overcome language barriers when interacting with limited English proficient individuals. I reviewed an individualized language access plan for each of Michigan's trial courts, and laid a foundation for the continuation of the program.
