Collins and Aikman incorporated Kaizen and Kanban Principles in the manufacturing processes. Collins and Aikman was a Lean Manufacturing Facility and reached “Serious Practitioner” status.; Responsibilities included operation, programming and debug of Fanuc P200 and ABB 5002 robots operating on a paint line controlled by Contrologix controller (previously a PLC3 controller). Automotive lines included 05 RS, 08 RT, PL, MK and PM, for Chrysler, and EZGO, Club Car and Yamaha golf carts.* Worked and supervised manual and automated paint applications to insure quality and consistency in compliance with QS9000 and then TS16949.* Generated daily shift reports, downtime reports and process change reports.* Participated in projects to upgrade painting processes with state of the art equipment which decreased raw material consumption by 30%, resulting in an annual cost savings of $4.5 million.* Participated in capital projects with investments of over $5 million, achieving annual cost savings over $6.5 million.* Member of Lean Manufacturing teams for RS front (Chrysler Vans) and EZGO lines of TPO products.* Extensive training in Kaizan philosophy of production, 6 steps of Kaizan, 5S and JIT principles.
