My path towards international relations and humanitarianism began with a love for foreign languages- specifically German and Arabic. Though I was sent to college with a scholarship from the Army, but I found myself discontent with my options and the environment. I switched to Intercultural Studies- an interdisciplinary study of sociology, anthropology, history, religion, and political science. It gave me an ever-growing fascination with the many people on Earth, and the constantly evolving social systems we create.I have also have a love for the incredibly diverse ecosystems of Earth, sustainability, and environmentalism. It began with Boy Scout hikes and brought me to run the Think Green Club at Drury University, committed to these values, and working with nonprofits like the Sierra Club to do everything from decarbonize city energy to streamline campus recycling. My experiences have led me to believe my purpose in life is to be the type of person which the world needs most. The world needs empathy, understanding, and compassion. Above all, I am growing through learning- because that’s what the world needs most.
