Rescue + Residence is a 501(c)3 public charity working to end veteran homelessness through a unique, holistic, 3-phase process. After completing their self-recovery and job skills training phases, participants design and build a custom, self-sufficient home in the back of a retired ambulance and take that new home into a new job in a new place to initiate a fresh start in life.As Executive Director of a new nonprofit, I have performed all organizational functions. I have led teams in developing core documentation, designed nearly all of our graphics, managed finances, organized fundraising events, conducted countless hours of direct fundraising, and put many hours into restoring and reconstructing our ambulance homes. Our Board of Directors has grown from just the 3 founders in 2021 to a total of 8 members in 2024. Our goal is to have 15 members of the Board of Directors by the end of 2025. Our board will always be a veteran majority and have at least one member with lived experience with homelessness. In our first full year, Rescue + Residence raised over $13,000 to work toward our goal of ending veteran homelessness. We more than doubled our fundraising in 2024 by raising more than $32,000. We are poised to break $50,000 for the first time in 2024. If you're reading this far, please consider helping us end veteran homelessness by going to https://www.givebutter.com/R_R_Champions and signing up for a monthly donation. Even just giving up one cup of coffee and donating $5/month can have a huge impact on our ability to end veteran homelessness.
