I was responsible for packaging the top stories and subbing our output to ensure the best video was edited and that it was scripted accurately. As an occasional bulletin editor I helped organise the output of AP's video news, compiled bulletins and managed a team of producers. I wrote reports on complex emergencies in Sudan, Chad and CAR tailored to brief journalists who are sent to cover them with the aim of improving their reporting.

I produced tsunami packages in Sri Lanka and India and campaign videos for the Gleneagles G8 summit.

I helped monitor political developments as the country emerged from civil war. Working in Kinshasa HQ and Kampala I assessed and re-wrote reports from field officers.

At the state TV station I trained journalists to move from videotape to digital production.

I edited reports from online journalists and updated news on the site, minute by minute.

I covered the Hutu insurgency in Rwanda and Eritrea's emergence as a new state.
