I currently supervise both the education and employment programs at the Friends of Youth Eastside Reengagement Center (a 1418 Open Doors site), including 3 staff, the facilities, and the coordination and direction of the respective programs. The education program employs myself, a case worker, and two GED instructors from Lake Washington Institute of Technology. I monitor contract compliance and updated WAC codes, compile and send reports to our LWIT contract monitor, work collaboratively with Youthsource Renton to deliver data to the Roadmaps Project, and attend and participate in monthly seminars at the King County Reengagement Provider Network meetings. I also work with Reconnect Opportunity and their Peer Connectors to do outreach and utilize community stake holders and truancy specialists at local public high schools to create an enrollment pipeline and a visible, accessible, and supportive alternative for young people that have disengaged from traditional public education. At the ERC itself, we've all worked collaboratively to host a mixed level GED prep course that utilizes a holistic, wrap around educational service model. For both programs, I submit regular reports that track the progress towards specified time sensitive outcomes, maintain the values, vision, and policies of the agency in the work place, and hold Human Resource responsibilities, such as monitoring hours worked, approving time cards and time off, and updating employees on upcoming trainings or agency events.

Taught all levels of the Silla English Program to a diverse range of students, from freshman to seniors and from a variety of majors. Also taught Basic Writing, Business, and Cultural Anthropology. Helped develop curriculum for all courses and collaborated with colleagues to improve teaching methods. Extensively used Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook, as well as adapted to and used Korean computer programs for tracking grades, attendance, and university notifications and announcements.

Worked at a low-income all boys technical high-school in Busan, South Korea, where I taught English courses that focused on communicative language learning through task based activities. Also held small training sessions for Korean English teachers and a Science teacher, and managed the Sasang School Newspaper.

Parke Creek Community Facility is a residential drug-treatment facility for incarcerated youth, and I worked as a security officer where I monitored residents and facilities to make sure there was a safe, hygienic, and stable living environment. Utilized deescalation techniques and the principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy to promote emotional regulation and healthy interpersonal interactions amongst residents.

Seattle

Worked as part of a Federal Department of Labor grant to reduce recidivism in the juvenile justice system by helping those exiting it secure gainful education, vocational training, and/or employment. These young people come from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, often times with multiple risk factors such as mental health issues, chemical dependencies, and/or unstable housing situations. I carried a caseload of youth and helped connect them to many community resources, particularly those related to vocational training/attainment, but also helped reduce more immediate barriers, such as in and outpatient chemical dependency treatment. Data was collected as part of the DOL grant reporting guidelines.
