After being made redundant, I took the opportunity to try my hand at other roles in other industries to really explore my options. One of the longer roles I undertook during this period was my time as Sales Support at Toyota Fleet Management.Grateful for an opportunity to explore this position and industry, I gained new skills sets in the following responsibilities;Preparation and execution of client leasing quotes.Generation of Leave Vehicle Orders (LVO's)Execution and management of lease variations / inertia rentals.Daily liaising with national dealers and clients in the provision of vehicle order details.Preparation and execution of client tenders.Reconciliation of payment allocations based on contract details.Provide internal support to various departments such as Acquisitions, Disposals and Settlements.Whilst utilising my already perfected customer service and problem solving skills.Had a great time learning about all things fleet management related, but it didn't seem to fulfil my inherent desires which seemed to be in the Logistics area. And with the timely birth of my son, I decided to take on the role of being a stay at home dad whilst I explored my options further.

Taking on the role as National Logistics Coordinator saw me responsible for implementing processes and procedures to assist the logistics department in streamlining operations nationally.Providing this type of backing to all logistics managers nationally allowed me to support and problem solve on a larger scale thanI had before.Responsibility also extended to;Coordination of all vehicle stocktake nationally.Provide ongoing customer service.Undertake varied interstate travel to stand in as acting logistics manager where required.Provide support with project management.Unfortunately my time here was cut short due to company restructure which saw my role made redundant.

Commencing my journey at Manheim as Assistant Logistics Manager I was immediately responsible for the supervision of approximately 100 staff. Having direct interaction with 5 supervisors in the areas of Book In, Inspections, Pad Logistics, Detailing and Compound.Whilst a great deal of what I did during my time at Northline crossed over during my time here at Manheim, I had increased opportunities to learn about and master the following additional skills;Weekly arrangement of staff to successfully cover over 1000 vehicle auctions.Support and execute HR matter as and when required.Being instrumental in building morale amongst the team and achieving minimisation of staff turnover.Project management support.Keeping me busy, and well connected to the roles within my area, I loved the increased responsibilities that came with managing high volumes of staff and products.

Coming back to Melbourne after an enjoyable Darwin stay, I returned in the capacity of Quality Transport Manager.Primarily responsible for maintaining the quality of all incoming and outbound freight, organisation of all freight presentations for delivery and assisting operations with physical loading and unloading of line haul.Whilst continuing to seek and provide solutions for problems that may arise, ongoing customer service, analysis of freight lanes and advice on warehousing layouts and maximisation strategies.Leaving Northline at this point, as I was presented with an opportunity to further enhance these skills.
