Senior Sql Server Database Administrator
CurrentPart of the Infrastructure DBA Team in charge of all SQL Server Instances including standalone, FCI, Always ON Availability Groups. Main automation engineer to the team by creating multiple PowerShell Modules for automating our SQL Builds and Data collection for analysis and reporting using Jenkins job pipelines and other open source stack such as (Telegraf/InfluxDB/Grafana).Responsibilities:• Install and Configure SQL Server according to best practices• Monitor the health and availability of all databases in our enterprise• Performance tuning by analyzing execution plans and IO Statistics using query store and DMVs• Improve Instance overall performance by looking at the top wait times• Maintain 99.999 availability in our Mission Critical Databases• In charge of the SQL Server Hyper-V Templates, making sure they follow industry best practices• Backup and Restore Databases and needed• Setting up database maintenance jobs including rebuild, dbcc checkdb, update stats• Automate SQL Builds using Jenkins Pipelines• Azure Database deployment and access management• Docker POC• SQL Server encryption using TDE, column level encryption and in network encryption using TLS and certificatesEnvironment:SQL 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019, PowerShell, Telegraf, Influxdb, Grafana, Solarwinds, Redgate sql toolbelt, Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, DockerAchievements:• Implemented performance data collection by using open source components such as Telegraf, influxdb and Grafana.• Fully automated SQL Builds using Jenkins Job pipelines, from setting up the required gmsa accounts, expanding drives, installing sql server, setting up maintenance plans, disabling sa, enabling IFO, etc. with a single click of a button• Created Kraken – A Powershell Module I developed and available in the PowerShell Gallery which collects useful sql server metadata for auditing and reporting purposes https://github.com/danielberber/Kraken
