Passionate about advancing scientific discovery and facilitating groundbreaking research, I bring over two decades of experience in academic science and biomedical research to my role as a Research Support Specialist. With a background deeply rooted in mammalian developmental biology, I have transitioned from a successful career in academia to providing essential histological services to researchers, external collaborators, and clinicians.Professional Journey:Since obtaining my PhD in 2009, my postdoctoral career has spanned 12 years in 3 separate research laboratories, focusing on molecular mechanisms driving mammalian embryonic development. Over the years, I honed my skills as a postdoctoral researcher in three separate biomedical research labs, where I established transgenic mouse models, introduced innovative methodologies, and fostered collaborations across borders, notably in the USA, China, and Japan. My initial studies at Monash University research explored the essential actions of steroid hormones in the embryonic lung. In later studies at both the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and the University of Melbourne, my work in gonadal development was centred on improving clinical diagnosis for individuals with syndromic ‘Disorders of Sex Development’ (DSDs). Transition to Research Support: Recognizing the critical need for specialized histological services in the research community, I redirected my expertise towards supporting fellow researchers, external partners, and clinicians. Leveraging my extensive background in biomedical research, I now play a pivotal role at the Monash Histology Platform in delivering high-quality histology services to advance diverse research endeavors. Whether performing immunohistochemical analyses, assisting in experimental design, or providing expert consultation on histological methodologies, I strive to facilitate seamless research workflows and empower scientific breakthroughs.Building on my experience in developing and fostering collaborations, I also actively engage with researchers, institutions, and industry partners to enhance the impact of histological services in biomedical research. By forging strategic alliances and sharing best practices, I contribute to a vibrant scientific community at Monash University dedicated to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
