Clark Nexsen is an award-winning multi-disciplinary architecture & engineering firm based in Norfolk, Va. The firm employs 500 people, and has 10 offices located throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia.As an Architect, performed as Lead Architect on modest projects, such as Sterling Construction Headquarters, and as Project Architect on larger projects, such as the New Cadet Barracks at the U.S. Military Academy (West Point). Throughout the course of these projects, passionately advocated for design excellence in each facet of work, including fundamental design and operational processes. As a Senior Sustainable Designer, orchestrated Designer, Contractor and Owner teams to obtain LEED certification of two large projects (350,000 sf total), and provided leadership and guidance on several additional projects.These roles resulted in involvement in over 30 projects ranging from 1,000 sf to over 300,000 sf, and encompassed a variety of projects types including university dormitories; military barracks; dining centers; child care facilities; a hotel; historic preservation; large scale feasibility studies; and an air traffic control tower. Project locations ranged from California to Europe, including Ventura, Ca; Houston, Tx; Rota, Spain; Vincenza, Italy; and Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, amongst others. This wide variety of project types provided experience across all project phases, each requiring close coordination with engineers and consultants.
