Daniel was born and raised in Pictou Nova Scotia, and now calls Kitimat British Columbia home.Daniel is Safety Engineering Technologist / Safety Management Professional and has worked in both the public and private sector for 25 years. Currently Daniel is the Occupational Health and Safety Manager for the city of Terrace, and long standing member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers.Daniel has worked for the Department of National Defense serving the Canadian Cadet Movement and during this time obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Safety Engineering. During this time Daniel also received a Canadian Commission Script that was signed by the Governor General of Canada and countersigned by the Minister of National Defense on behalf of the Queen of Canada. Daniel currently volunteers with Rotary Kitimat, is a member with the Canadian Mental Health Association, and has also recently been voted in as Vice Chair for the District of Kitimat Planning and Advisory Commission.Daniel enjoys hiking, dog walking, anything nature related and painting in his spare time. Daniels passion for art has lead him to achieve several awards including a Peoples Choice Award for one of his paintings that was displayed in the Nisga'a Museum located in Lax̱g̱altsʼap, a village in northwestern British Columbia, Canada.Some of Daniels past volunteer experience includes; mentoring for the Duke of Edinburg Awards Program, bottle sorting events for the SPCA, community clean ups, and serving as the President Elect of Biathlon Newfoundland and Labrador. Daniel is proud of his tenure as President Elect with Biathlon NL with a crowning achievement of sending two teams to compete in the Canadian Winter Games.Daniel also supports and participates with Kitimat Experiences; a Social Outreach Group / Volunteer Organization with over 1700 members that his partner Katrina has created. The members of this group represent over 20% of the District of Kitimat's population.
