Application Scientist
CurrentGraduate Researcher
• Devised and synthesized a series of Zr-porphyrin metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with increasing angles between adjacent porphyrin units and investigated the effect on triplet lifetimes. • Determined the lack of a supposed charge-separated state occurring between the linker and node in a Zr-porphyrin MOF by probing the triplet kinetics with ns-transient absorption. • Implemented ns transient absorption and emission spectroscopy to systematically pinpoint the origin of dual emission in a cyclometallated Ir-complex first used as a MOF linker.• Elucidated the cooperative mechanisms governing efficient catalysis in mixed Ru-linker metal-organic frameworks with ns-transient absorption spectroscopy
Undergraduate Research Grant
• Derived the mechanisms of static fluorescence quenching in the individual emissive components in fulvic acids with the persistent pharmaceutical, carbamazepine. Determined a limit of detection for carbamazepine at the 100 part-per-billion level.• Implemented synchronous-scanning fluorescence spectroscopy to isolate the emission spectra of the individual components that comprise fulvic acids in wastewater effluents
