Daniel Calder, a shareholder, has been an intellectual property law practitioner for over 30 years. Before entering private practice, Dan worked for 12 years as in-house patent counsel for several Fortune 500 companies. Dan has extensive experience in patent prosecution and litigation. He established a strong patent portfolio built on pioneering solar cell technology for an internationally known electronic technology corporation and worked as part of the team to later sell the portfolio. Dan has been involved in the drafting and negotiation of patents and patent licenses for clients in the electrical and mechanical fields. He counsels clients on matters relating to trademarks and copyrights, including trademark prosecution, non-infringement and availability options and litigation. Dan has prepared numerous validity and infringement studies to assist clients in evaluating their intellectual property assets and establishing strong patent protection. With their business objectives in mind, he counsels clients in decisions involving patent protection, the need for licensing-in technology or cross-licensing technology and potential litigation. Dan is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Pennsylvania, District of Columbia and New York Bars. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the Court of Customs and Patent Appeals. Dan is also a Board Member for the Annual Review published by the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association.
