I was drafted to the National Hockey League to the Pittsburgh Penguins 73rd overall in 2003. I began my professional hockey career in 2005 in the American Hockey League, and made it to the NHL in 2006. From 2010 to 2015, I went to the Stanley Cup Finals 4 times, with 3 different teams, and am a two time Stanley Cup champion. I retired in 2015, after 7 concussions, due to Post Concussion Syndrome and have since dedicated my life to advocacy work focused on high level trauma communities (veterans, first responders, mental illness) healing and regaining brain health, mental health and quality of life.
