I have worked for SUEZ since 2009 in operational roles and supported the bid team in large scale tenders. I work with colleagues, contractors, SMEs and social enterprises to create value from the waste we throw away in Greater Manchester. In line with our latest SUEZ Sustainability Report, we achieve this through our long term commitment to deliver on our 'Triple Bottom Line' approach, where People, Planet & Profit all matter!My primary focus in 2022 is to grow reuse in the region. We will generate enormous levels of social, economic and environmental value from waste we throw away, to benefit the local region, by working together to Renew its potential. The project creates work experience and fantastic training opportunities for students, veterans, ex-offenders and others from disadvantaged backgrounds. All the profits go back too all charities (min. £320kpa).In my current role as Regional Operations Manager on the £80Mpa GMCA contract, I am responsible for putting 1.1 million tonnes p.a. of waste to good use, on behalf of our client and the 2.8M customers who live in the region. I lead a team of over 600 staff, with operations across 26 facilities in Gtr. Manchester. Driving continuous improvement is a key part of my leadership role in SUEZ. I coach my team on the adoption and deployment of various LEAN tools, always seeking marginal gains.In Gtr Manchester recycling rates are up by 20%, (55%) and landfill diversion up 6% (98%). That's more than 50ktpa less to landfill. Delivering a new 30ktpa street sweepings plant helped us achieve this, with clean sand & aggregate products being sold back to the construction industry.We have introduced the recycling of carpets, rigid plastics and mattresses, with >15,000 of the latter being processed every month!Before successfully bidding and mobilising the Manchester contract in 2018/19, I was the Regional Manager for SUEZ processing operations in the North West of England, with responsibility for all local authority contracts, HWRCs, MRFs, Transfer Stations and a wood shredding facility. In this role I also acted as the Contract Manager for the 27 year PPP contract with the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority, which includes the diversion of over 450,000tpa of municipal and I&C waste on rail from Knowsley to our Wilton EfW in Teesside.
