I currently work at Ies La Serna in Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain. I teach chemistry and biology to secondary students, and English to primary students. I create lesson plans in a range of subjects including general chemistry (periodic table, simple chemical bonds, etc.), general biology (anatomy, physiology, etc.), and English grammar. In addition, I teach private lessons. The main benefit of this job is learning Spanish. I am now conversationally fluent and am currently improving my knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish. Ideally, I will be able to take this skill through a career as a medical professional to provide health care globally.

I spent the summer working with two groups of 42 boys over tow separate 25-periods. The groups of 42 were split into cabins of seven which were each assigned two counselors. I was the hiking counselor for the entire camp but was affiliated with two cabins, Tidal Wave and The Rocketeers (campers come up with names for their cabins). I spent the summer taking all 14 groups of boys on two hikes in New Hampshire. I also refereed sports games of cabin-vs.-cabin and worked on belay when the boys used the climbing elements at camp. As a camp focused on serving boys from challenged backgrounds I quickly learned how a few helpful words can change a child's outlook on a situation. It was a tremendous responsibility providing all the boys a safe and productive environment for 25 days straight, and supervising them from 6;30am - 9;30pm.

As a medical transcriptionist I completed necessary patient documentation for a physical therapist employed by Asian Home Health Care Inc. Patient forms typically include Start of Care intake, Home visit therapy notes, discharge summaries, and interdisciplinary case communications. In addition, I often dealt with documenting and submitting invoices, scheduling, and patient chart updates. This job provided me with a framework for clear, concise documentation necessary for providing treatment to a patient. Along with helping me become more detail oriented, this job has taught me the value of a medical transcriptionist in that the less time spent by the physician doing paperwork means better patient-doctor relationships and more optimal patient care.

The way Dioji was arranged allowed for cage free dog boarding while under supervision. Along with other supervisors, I took care of a yard of approximately 10-25 dogs at a time. Additionally, Dioji offers bathings, teeth cleaning, and nail clipping, all of which I managed and took care. My work at Dioji ended when I was offered a position at CARE Veterinary Hospital.Dioji offered me a fun and stress free work place while studying Biology at Santa Barbara City college. When I was still considering veterinary medicine, Dioji offered me a initial rung on the career path toward animal care.

At Cleveland Elementary I volunteered as a program coordinator for Afterschool programs for kids in grades K through 6. My main task was organizing games and events, supervising focused studying, and assisting kids with their homework. My work at A-ok ended when my volunteer period ended.Having never worked with kids before, A-ok gave me perspective on how to interact not only with the kids, but also with their parents. Now that I am highly considering pediatric medicine, it provided me with invaluable experience insofar as effective communication and empathy with children.
