Daniel Chieng has over 23 years of experience in commercial, transport, residential, retail, mixed-use, workplace, and master planning projects. A versatile design professional, he has led projects across all stages, from master planning and concept design to construction documentation and delivery.Currently serving as Senior Design Manager for Aqualand, Daniel is working on Central Barangaroo, a mixed-use development within Sydney’s Barangaroo precinct. The project will deliver luxury residences, a lifestyle hotel, and premium retail and F&B offerings, adjacent to the future Barangaroo Harbour Park.Throughout his career, Daniel has focused on mixed-use developments that contribute to vibrant urban precincts. He has delivered several major projects within Sydney’s Barangaroo precinct, a major retail and commercial complex on Pitt Street Mall, and Brookfield Place Sydney, one of the most recent landmark precincts in Sydney CBD. These projects looked beyond their physical sites to encompass broader considerations such as urban regeneration, placemaking, and the connection between private and public space.Daniel's approach emphasises understanding client needs and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders to achieve exceptional design outcomes. He was instrumental in the reference design for precincts within the Victorian Government’s Suburban Rail Loop East (Box Hill to Cheltenham), focusing on Transport-Oriented Development and transforming surrounding neighborhoods to create townships around the new rail network and stations.At Lendlease, Daniel led the design and delivery of the Barangaroo International Towers, working with renowned architects. His expertise in design, construction, and value engineering helped enhance project efficiency, timelines, and costs. He also regularly provided peer reviews and strategic advice across Lendlease's construction business units.Previously, at Bates Smart, Daniel contributed to award-winning projects like TransGrid Headquarters, 420 George Street, The Gantry, and the Parramatta Justice Building.
