Spotlight English is a multiplatform program designed to immerse ESL students in the language by producing content in simple, direct English. As the lead writer, editor, and producer for Spotlight, I take every program from inception to its final form as a YouTube video or podcast. I am also in charge of content strategy for the channel.

For about a year, I wrote list articles on a contract basis for TheGamer, with a general focus on tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons and Blades in the Dark. While the list format is not known for its intellectual content, TheGamer’s articles are both interesting and informative, and I sought to bring people information about gaming that both surprised and enlightened them.

For three years, I worked as a team member and then section manager of the dairy and frozen departments at Bridge Street Market, Meijer's flagship market format store, I monitored sales, ordered, liaised with local vendors, and managed a small team of five to six employees. I did all my own merchandising, and even helped transfer part of my section into an experimental ordering system.

My internship at the West Michigan Environmental Action Council was an incredible opportunity for me to learn more about the craft of journalism, and explore environmental issues. While there, I wrote weekly blogs, conducted independent investigations, and wrote monthly opinion pieces for the Grand Haven Tribune. I also joined WMEAC’s IDEAL committee, which focuses on making the organization more inclusive and accessible to people of color. Because of my work with IDEAL, I began wrote quite a bit about environmental justice issues, culminating in a report on trichloroethylene contamination in the Madison Square neighborhood of Grand Rapids.

I taught "Understanding Art " under Professors Debra Dewitte and Charissa Terranova during the 2017/2018 school year. Mostly, this meant fielding student questions, keeping office hours, grading tests etc. I also presented several lectures including one on the battle of the Sedan panorama, or the Kaiserpanorama.

ADAPT. was a theatre company I helped start in Grand Rapids, which focused on making plays that addressed issues of social justice. I was the lead dramaturg there, heading up our new play department and collaborated with the artistic director in season planning. I was also a member of the board, helped write grants, and wrote content for our website. We were a fully integrated 401C3.
