Before joining Profile on a permanent contract I was employed as a subcontractor. As a result of this change I was able to expand my responsibilities to include training new staff members and organising the response drivers and their workloads, conducting security surveys and evaluations for clients, also being responsible for the implementation of new policies, and the preparation of client-specific assignment instructions (SOP). In addition to this, I assist my line managers in other tasks as required such as fleet management. My remit was heavily solution based, meaning I relied quite intuitively on my problem solving skills in most areas of my work.

My position here allowed me to experience a wide range of areas within the security industry gaining knowledge of how they are best implemented for new and existing clients or premises along with their ongoing management for the longer term.

Due to illness in my immediate family, I was not formally employed during this period. However, I began writing freelance articles for motoring and boxing magazines, mostly for Unity Media. Being successfully published I was able to use this time to complete courses in Front line security and conflict management. This formed part of my retraining; allowing me to acquire my SIA Front Line security license.

As well as the day to day running of the office, I was responsible for all correspondence and marketing, as well as recruiting new volunteers. I implemented a database for the storage of required information. I would also support the scheme manager in bid writing for grants and public funding, personally winning the largest award the scheme has ever received.
