As a surveyor for ISG's logistics and distribution division, I manage sub-contractor packages with a value up to £30m; contract documents; cost and value inputs to the overall position; value engineering; management and communication of change as well as day to day site coordination and design management.In the past year, I have had the opportunity to take projects through pre-development to site and am now on a project tendered. This has been beneficial in encompassing known facilitating and interfacing works to incorporate a full scope for significantly lower erosion.

It is important to gather this information accurately, as certain points can greatly strengthen a client’s case. Many cases have issues that require further investigation. In finding a resolution, I often have to scour records and communicate with lenders.I am actively engaged in the creation of new software to make the claims management process as accurate, fast and efficient as possible.

When I began working for this company it was a recent start-up, which meant my role in the office was varied and covered all aspects of the day to day running of a business. I led a small team that worked cohesively under pressure. My communications with customers and our industrial clients would involve initially advising them on our products and appropriate situations for their use. This required a thorough knowledge of our product range, as well as Approved Building Regulations: Document J.I would find the customer a local qualified tradesman and invoice them using Sage accounting software. Calls received also often involved resolving customer service issues and troubleshooting individual technical problems.Other aspects included ordering stock from suppliers in China and Europe, stock control, updating the website, and dealing with various logistic companies. Working here taught me a great deal about communicating clearly with my team, customers and industrial clients as well as treating them with kindness and respect whilst under pressure. I honed many office skills, and in essence became able to run an international e-commerce and distribution company.

When I left sixth form I was approached by a number of local people offering me a variety of short term jobs. It was therefore most beneficial to become self-employed. These jobs ranged from landscaping, restoration projects and carpentry for various construction firms; to working in the office of Stoveworld UK. This taught me a great deal about maintaining accounts and building a rapport with clients to ensure I would be the first person that they would call.
